Upstate Kayak Rentals wants you to explore all the various beautiful waterways the Capital District has to offer in the most convenient way possible and we have 15 different locations for you to explore! In addition to kayak rentals, we also offer paddle/pedal excursions and self-guided tours through Waterford's Flight of Locks. Upstate Kayak Rentals offers 2 staffed locations (Waterford Boat Launch and Mohawk Harbor) and 13 easy to use self-serving rental sites along with various traveling adventures throughout the season.

Upstate Kayak Rentals has partnered with Upstate Pontoon Charters! Enjoy a slow private relaxing scenic cruise on the Historic Erie Canal/Mohawk River between Locks 6 and 7 with Capt Donna.
We'll start our cruise heading westbound under the Twin Bridges. Enjoy the shorelines views, tranquil and sporadic wildlife as we travel up to the Lock 7 Waterfalls. No red wine.
Cost: $200 for 2 hours (up to 4 guests) or $250 (up to 6 guests).

Interested in learning to operate a pontoon boat? Sold your boat? Boat slips, rentals and sale prices are on the rise and trailering a boat is timely. Here's your chance to enjoy summer on the water with friends and family without the headache or hassle of owning a boat at a reduced rate. We have a 20' 50hp pontoon boat, perfect for those slow relaxing cruises, beaching on islands, anchoring, traveling to local restaurants right here on the historic Mohawk River/Erie Canal. Located at Blains Bay Marina, Latham, NY.
USCG Capt Donna will teach you the Rules of the Road, Docking, Anchoring, Beaching and how to safely go through a lock. Once you have been cleared and feel comfortable driving and docking our boat, simply reserve your your pontoon boat and and enjoy a day out on the canal.
Training Cost: $150.00 per person or $200.00 per couple for training (approx 2-3 hours on the water time training). After completion of training, boat rental fee is $250.00 for half day or $400 full day (plus fuel).
